Comparison

Everglow vs MotionOps: the difference is the sixth hire.

MotionOps is a serious product and in several places it is ahead of us — the payment bookkeeping especially. This page is not a feature checklist, because on features they win more rows than we do. It is about one number: what each additional person on your crew costs.

Price

What it costs as you hire

Monthly list prices, both sides, no annual commitment. MotionOps discounts 33% if you prepay for a year, which takes Go to $119 and Scale to $199 — if you are willing to pay twelve months up front, check their site, because these numbers will look worse for them than your actual quote. They do not publish the per-user price on annual, so the extra-seat figures below are the monthly ones.

Three and five techs are a genuine tie, and we are not going to pretend otherwise — at that size pick on features, and read the next section before you pick us. The line only moves at six people, because MotionOps includes five users on Go and charges $29 a month for each one after that. Everglow does not count users, so every row above one tech is $149. If you need their Scale tier for multiple locations, the same arithmetic starts at $249 with five users and $49 for each one after: $494 at ten people, $1,229 at twenty-five.

Where MotionOps is ahead of us

On features MotionOps wins more rows than we do, and these are the ones worth knowing about before you choose either way.

Elsewhere

Credit memos

Issue a credit against a customer's account and apply it to a later invoice.

Everglow has no credit memo. A credit is either a negative invoice or a balance on the customer and those behave differently at tax time, so it is a decision we have not made rather than a feature we forgot. Point for MotionOps.

Elsewhere

Time tracking with GPS

Clock in and out per appointment, split driving, break and work time, geo-stamped, with payroll preparation and timesheet approval.

Everglow logs time against a visit and has no geo-stamp, no payroll export and no approval step.

Elsewhere

Change orders and waivers

Change orders with signatures and scope changes, liability waivers, and document version tracking.

Everglow has customer signatures on visits and quotes, and neither change orders nor waivers.

Elsewhere

A native mobile app

In both stores, with push notifications.

Everglow is a web app that installs to the home screen and works offline. For a lot of crews that is the same thing. For some it is not.

Elsewhere

AI receipt scanning

Photograph a receipt and the line items are pre-filled onto the job.

Everglow records expenses against a job with no scanning. Point for MotionOps.

Elsewhere

A screen for all of it

Everything above is a button in their dashboard, and so are ACH setup and saving a card.

Ours are settings or API calls. Read the next section for what does have a button.

If any of those decide it for you, buy MotionOps. Credit memos and payroll-grade time tracking in particular are not small gaps, and telling you otherwise would be a bad way to start.
Payments

Refunds, part payments and deposits

Refunds, part payments and deposits are buttons on the invoice and the quote. ACH is a setting rather than a switch on a screen, and saving a customer’s card for automatic billing is still an API call rather than a page — MotionOps has screens for both of those and we would rather you knew it now than after you switched.

Refunds

Full or partial, back through Stripe on your own account. The charge and the refund both stay in the invoice's transaction log, so the history is intact when a customer argues about it. A refund cannot exceed what was taken, and two partial refunds cannot add up past the original.

ACH

Bank transfers alongside cards, at Stripe's rates, into your own account. On a $5,000 commercial invoice that is a real saving against card fees. A bank debit is not instant — the invoice stays owed until the money actually lands, and if it bounces days later the invoice goes back to owed. Turning ACH on is a setting we change for you rather than a toggle you press.

Partial payments with a minimum

Turn it on per invoice and set the smallest amount you will accept. The minimum does not apply to the last of it — a $40 remainder under a $100 minimum is still payable, because an invoice nobody can settle is worse than a small payment.

Deposits on a quote

The deposit becomes a real invoice rather than a special kind of record, so it is paid, chased, refunded and reported by everything that already handles invoices. The same quote cannot be deposit-invoiced twice.

An open API

MotionOps puts its Open API on Scale, at $249 a month.

Everglow's API and its AI connection are on every plan, including the $49 one. Connect Claude to your own business and ask it what needs attention.

Elsewhere

More than one trade under one roof

Business unit management, multiple locations and service areas are Scale features.

Everglow runs several trades off one customer list at $149. HVAC and plumbing and restoration in one company, not three accounts.

Elsewhere

Customer portal and job costing

Both start at Go, so the $59 tier has neither.

Included on every Everglow plan, with loaded labor cost — wage plus burden, not the bare hourly rate.

Elsewhere

Operational intelligence

MotionOps reports, and its job closing check is genuinely good at catching uninvoiced work on the job in front of you.

Everglow reviews the whole shop: the completed work never invoiced, the quotes gone cold, the customers who stopped booking, with the invoice numbers.

The phone

Who is calling, before you answer

Elsewhere

Texts, not calls

MotionOps's feature list covers texting customers — on-my-way messages, notifications and payment follow-ups by SMS. It does not list connecting your phone system or showing who is calling.

Everglow connects the phone system you already have. Compatible systems send call events, the caller is matched to their customer record, and whoever answers sees their sites, visits, quotes and balance. How it works →

MotionOps checked on motionops.com/features on 27 September 2026. Everglow doesn’t place, answer, record or transfer calls.

Questions

The ones people actually ask

Is Everglow cheaper than MotionOps?

Not at every crew size. At one user Everglow is $49 against $59. At three and five users both are $149. Above five MotionOps adds $29 a month per person and Everglow does not, so at ten techs it is $149 against $294.

Does MotionOps charge per user?

Yes. Solo is one user only. Go includes five and charges $29 a month for each one beyond. Scale includes five and charges $49. Everglow does not count users on any plan.

Does Everglow do everything MotionOps does?

No. MotionOps has credit memos, GPS time tracking with payroll preparation and timesheet approval, change orders, waivers, document version tracking, AI receipt scanning and a native mobile app. Everglow has none of those. Everglow does refunds, part payments and deposits from the invoice and the quote. ACH and saving a card for automatic billing work, but without a screen of their own yet, and MotionOps has one for both.

What does Everglow include that MotionOps charges more for?

An open API on every plan against their Scale tier at $249, with the AI connection included on every plan too. Several trades under one company against business unit management on Scale. Customer portal and job costing on every plan against Go and above. And unlimited users at every crew size.

Can MotionOps show who is calling?

Its feature list, checked on 27 September 2026, covers texting customers but does not list connecting a phone system or showing who is calling. Everglow connects compatible phone systems, so the office sees the caller's customer record, sites, visits and quotes when the call comes in. Everglow doesn't place, answer or record calls.

What about payment processing rates?

MotionOps publishes cards at 2.9% + $0.30, Amex at 3.2%, and ACH at 1% below $20,000 and 0.5% above. Everglow does not process your payments — your Stripe account is yours, the money lands in your bank, and we take nothing on card volume. Compare your own Stripe rate against theirs.

MotionOps prices were taken from motionops.com/pricing on 21 September 2026 and are the monthly no-commitment list. Their annual plans are 33% cheaper and charged up front. Prices change. If these are out of date, tell us and we will fix the page.

The honest close

MotionOps may be right for you. Everglow may be. Here is where to look.

If you need credit memos, or to run payroll off geo-stamped timesheets, buy MotionOps — those are real gaps on our side and we are not going to talk you out of them. If you want to set up ACH or save a customer’s card for automatic billing by pressing something, they are ahead there too. If you are adding people and each one is another $29, or you run more than one trade out of one office, run the numbers before deciding either way.
